My latest work has, I believe, helped clarify and focus a few of the concepts/ideas I’ve been presenting on this blog. I wanted to document my latest thinking here, in the form of some definitions. Of course, these aren’t “definite” – this is all still wet clay. But I’ll leave these as guideposts for now.
Definition of a Notarist
- A Notarist, in its most general sense, notarizes the existence of anything.
- Existence, meaning it exists to us, to humans – which further means it is “something” that can be sensed, either by a human’s senses directly or via a human-constructed calculation – what we call reality.
- Primary purpose is to “notarize” human existence
- A Notarist’s main responsibility is to originate/produce existential proofs, which are physical documents that notarize the witnessing of a specific human action.
Definition of an Existential Proof
Any act of human creation witnessed, live, in real-time, and subsequently documented, by a Notarist.
Why it’s important -> When the provenance of a human creation is in doubt, an official, impartial, designated witness, who documents the act, can become a reliable authentication tool.
An existential proof is, essentially, a creative act.
- I’ve called them Creation Proofs elsewhere
Definition of a Transient
- Theoretically – A transient is the measurement of every possible data point that exists at a precise space-time.
- When I say “every possible”, I mean it literally. It is therefore, an incalculable amount of information for every slice of space-time, which is, in itself infinitely divisible.
- Therefore, actual, complete transients are currently only theoretical/conceptual
- Practically – A transient is a stored data element that is comprised of as many sensory, derived and/or calculated data points that can be captured for a specific space-time.
- A derivative of the Notarists’ efforts is a space-time transient map that could serve other purposes, creative and practical.
- Existentially – A transient is a type space-time watermark. By recording a transient, a human being is essentially saying/declaring “I was here, at this exact moment and all these datapoints are unique to this instance, never to be repeated.” This ties into a larger theory of reality based on quantum mechanics and the material effect of observation.
Relationship between Notarists and Transients
A Notarist can use any method they choose to fulfill their role of validating human existence. The only requirement is that the Notarist must witness, live, in real-time, a human action, and properly document it.
There are certain, original starting points that can be considered. [examples – 60 sec transient]
Once the decided-upon human action has been performed and witnessed, the Notarist must sign and seal a physical document (of any type) that clearly states and describes, in detail, the human action they just witnessed. This document, called an existential proof, is the foundation for all other actions and/or additions that may follow. For example, the Notarist may include pictures, videos, recordings, etc with the notarization. These additional, supplementary materials, however, are of secondary importance.
The Notarist must, immediately following the witnessed action, make a digital copy of the existential proof document and post it, and any supplementary materials, to the blockchain.
It is recommended that Notarists include a transient in every existential proof. A transient helps to anchor the witnessed human action in space-time, adding further authentication elements to the notarization.
